About the Filmmakers For Global Impact Program
Filmmakers for Global Impact is a 3-month online program designed to support filmmakers in developing stories that address meaningful social issues and inspire real-world change.
The program brings together emerging and established storytellers who want to explore the intersection of storytelling and social impact. Participants are guided through the early stages of project development, from defining their concept and mission to building a narrative that reflects the change they hope to inspire.
With the support of experienced volunteer mentors and collaborative peer sessions, filmmakers develop both their story and a strategy for how their project can create meaningful engagement with audiences and communities.
At its core, Filmmakers for Global Impact aims to help storytellers transform ideas into impactful narratives while providing the tools to amplify their message beyond the screen.
How It Works
Filmmakers selected for the program participate in a structured three-month online development track designed to guide projects from concept to impact strategy.
Participants work closely with mentors and peers through workshops, feedback sessions, and collaborative discussions. Throughout the program, filmmakers refine their project concept, develop their script or story outline, and design an impact strategy connected to the themes explored in their work.
The program emphasizes both story development and real-world engagement, helping participants build projects that resonate with audiences while contributing to broader social conversations.
Each cohort brings together 12–15 filmmakers, creating a collaborative environment where participants can exchange ideas, receive feedback, and support each other's creative process.
The 3-Month Program
Month 1 | Concept & Mission Mapping
Participants begin by defining the core concept of their story and the social mission that drives it.
Workshops and mentor sessions help filmmakers clarify their narrative vision, identify their intended audience, and explore the real-world change they hope their story will encourage.
Output: Story concept brief and defined social impact goal.
Month 2 | Script & Story Development
During the second phase, participants develop the narrative structure of their project.
Workshops focus on storytelling techniques such as narrative arc, character development, and ethical storytelling when addressing real-world issues. Filmmakers work on a script, treatment, or detailed story outline while receiving peer feedback and mentor guidance.
Output: Refined script, treatment, or story outline with the social mission integrated into the narrative.
Month 3 | Impact Amplification & Showcase
In the final phase, participants explore how their story can create engagement beyond the narrative itself.
Workshops focus on designing outreach campaigns, connecting with audiences, and identifying ways their project can contribute to awareness or community action. Participants develop a Story Impact Plan outlining engagement strategies and potential impact initiatives.
The program concludes with a virtual showcase, where filmmakers present their projects and receive feedback from mentors and peers.
Output: Story Impact Plan and a polished project concept ready for further development or production.
