From Screen to Action is a unique program that empowers filmmakers to transform their storytelling into real-world impact. Participants submit their film or project along with the mission behind it, explaining the cause they care about and why it matters. If selected, filmmakers work with the MTLIFF team to design a tailored action mission. Through events, workshops, donation campaigns or other initiatives, we map out an actionable plan that bridges the gap between story and social change. This program ensures your work doesn’t just reach audiences, it inspires them to take action.

The Filmmakers for Global Impact program is a 3-month, fully online initiative designed to empower storytellers to create projects with meaningful social impact. This program guides participants through every stage of story development, from concept to script to real-world
engagement, helping filmmakers turn their ideas into narratives that inspire action. With the support of experienced volunteer mentors, participants learn to craft compelling stories,
integrate social missions into their narratives, and design strategies to amplify their impact across communities and platforms.

Dedicated to helping emerging talent land their first job in the entertainment industry, this partnership connects the Montreal International Film Festival’s commitment to global storytelling and inclusion with the Group Effort Initiative’s mission to open doors for underrepresented creatives. Through this program, selected participants are placed directly into entry-level roles on real productions, gaining hands-on, on-set experience that helps bridge the gap between education and employment. By providing access to paid work opportunities, and career-launching exposure.
